Angizem CD 120 mg is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure), angina (chest pain), and certain heart rhythm disorders. High blood pressure is a serious problem which may be due to wrong dietary habits, obesity and lifestyle. It may lead to other problems such as strokes and heart failure. This drug cures mild to moderate blood pressure very effectively to cure these problems. Diltiazem is the main active pharmaceutical ingredient present in Angizem CD capsules. Diltiazem belongs to a family of medications known as calcium channel blockers. It is used to treat high blood pressure and angina may be alone or with other medicines. This drug consists of Diltiazem, which acts as a calcium channel blocker. It works by blocking the movement of calcium into the smooth muscle cells of the heart. As the muscle contraction requires calcium and due to the reduced amount of calcium, the heart muscle cells are not being able to contract. This results in the dilation of blood vessels which further slows down the heart rate and lowers blood pressure. It also increases the oxygen and blood supply to the heart so that the heart can pump blood more effectively.
Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, dizziness and rash are the common side effects of Diltiazem. If any of these effects continuing for a longer time or deteriorate, contact your doctor immediately. Diltiazem may rarely cause serious side effects such as: sudden numbness, weakness, severe headache, ringing in your ears, chest pain, cough, slow heartbeats, lightheadedness, dark urine, clay coloured stools, jaundice, burning in your eyes, blistering of the skin, easy bruising.
