Endace 40 mg is a prescription medicine used for patients with advanced carcinoma of the breast or endometrium. It should not be used instead of currently accepted procedures such as radiation, surgery, or chemotherapy. The medicine is also indicated for the treatment of anorexia (an eating disorder and serious mental health disorder), cachexia (a weakness that occurs in patients with chronic diseases), or significant weight loss in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).
- In breast cancer
Endace relieves the symptoms of breast cancer, such as bloody discharge from nipples, breast lumps, or changes in the shape or texture of the breast. It contains the active Megestrol acetate, which affects the production of those hormones responsible for the growth and spread of breast cancer. It is also known to interact with other hormones or directly affect cancer to stop its growth.
- In endometrial cancer
Endace has megestrol acetate, a naturally occurring steroid hormone, progesterone. It helps to relieve the symptoms of endometrial cancer, such as lower back pain, abnormal vaginal bleeding, pain during sex, etc. It interferes with the production and working of those hormones in the body that are required for the growth and spread of endometrial cancer.
