Lan 30 mg is a prescription medicine for reducing the amount of acid that your stomach makes. It contains the active ingredient Lansoprazole, which is categorized under the drug class proton pump inhibitor. Your doctor may prescribe this acid reducer for the treatment of stomach ulcer, inflammation in your esophagus, heartburn, reflux esophagitis, and acid regurgitation. You may also receive Lansoprazole 30 mg for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is also effective against infection caused by the bacteria Helicobacter pylori when used in combination with antibiotic drug. Your doctor may prescribe this drug for another condition. Please follow your doctor’s instruction when it comes to using this acid reducer drug.
Lan 30 mg can cause diarrhea, which may indicate a new infection. If you have watery or bloody diarrhea, stop taking this medication and seek medical help immediately. Do not take medication for diarrhea without your doctor’s advice. If you are also taking Sucralfate, make sure that you do not take it at the same time as Lansoprazole. Sucralfate can obstruct the proper absorption of this medication. Ensure 30 minutes between both the medications. Your doctor may advise some restrictions regarding food, beverages, and activities. Obey him or her strictly. These drugs can interact with Lansoprazole: atazanavir, ampicillin, digoxin, iron medication, methotrexate, ketoconazole. Theophylline, a blood thinner like warfarin, or a diuretic. The drugs mentioned thus are not all the possible drugs which can interact with Lansoprazole. There may be others as well. Share the list of all types of medications and related products which you are using with your doctor and never start a new medication without his or her advice.
Possible side effects of Lan 30 mg are headache, dizziness, diarrhea, constipation, skin rash, itching, tiredness, changes in liver function, benign polyps in the stomach. Some uncommon side effects include muscle pain, depression, changes in blood cell counts, fluid retention or swelling. If any of these adverse effects become troublesome, please speak to your doctor.
