Description
Lotensyl 10 mg contains the active ingredient Lercanidipine, a calcium channel blocker used to treat high blood pressure, also known as hypertension (high blood pressure) in adults over the age of 18 years.
Do not take Lotensyl 10 mg; tell your doctor if you are hypersensitive to Lercanidipine or any of the medicine’s ingredients. Avoid taking medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to drugs closely related to Lercanidipine (such as nicardipine, felodipine, nifedipine, isradipine, lacidipine, amlodipine, nicardipine). You should avoid taking the medicine if you suffer from heart disease (untreated heart failure, unstable angina, obstruction of blood flow from the heart, and unstable angina).
Lotensyl is contraindicated in patients with severe liver or kidney problems. Concomitant use of antifungal medicines, antivirals, and antibiotics should be avoided. Do not take this medicine with grapefruit or grapefruit juice. Do not use Lercanidipine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The medicine is not recommended for children under 18 years of age. Take special care with Lercanidipine if you have certain other heart conditions which have not been treated by introducing a pacemaker or have pre-existing angina. Caution should be taken because of the possibility of tiredness, dizziness, and weakness. Avoid driving or using machines that require you to alert until you know how the antihypertensive agent affects you.
If you develop serious side effects such as angina pectoris (chest pain due to lack of blood in the heart), fall in blood pressure (that can cause fainting or light-headedness), and allergic reactions (symptoms including rash, itching, and hives); you may suffer with increased frequency and duration of the severity of these attacks if you suffer from pre-existing angina pectoris with the group of drugs that belongs to the Lercanidipine class of medications.
Other possible side effects of the medicine include faster heartbeats, palpitations, dizziness, neck, upper chest, ankle swelling, and headaches. Rarely, a patient taking Lotensyl 10 mg includes heartburn, diarrhoea, skin rash, muscle pain, tiredness, the passage of large amounts of urine, and changes in liver function. If you develop any side effects, speak to your doctor. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this medication guide.
