Description
Yasmin tablet 3 mg is a combined contraceptive pill that is made up of two active ingredients, namely Drospirenone or Ethinyl estradiol. Like other types of birth control pills, it is also taken to prevent unwanted pregnancy in women. Yasmin birth control is more than 99% effective when taken correctly, but missing pills can make it less effective. Remember, it should not be taken to protect against sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). If you are looking for STD protection, you still need to use condoms. Yasmin contraceptive pill comes in a pack of 21 pills; you need to take one pill at the same time every day for 21 days and then leave a gap of seven days before starting the next packet. Yasmin drosperenone works to stop your ovaries from releasing an egg each month.
Do not take Yasmin if you are pregnant, planning to be a mother, breastfeeding, or suffering from untreated or uncontrolled high blood pressure. Your doctor should be aware of all your medical conditions, prescribed or non-prescribed medicines, and supplements you are taking. Be sure to inform him of the history of allergies (if you have any).
Tell your doctor if you notice side effects of birth control pills, including hives, difficulty breathing, sudden numbness, nausea, sweating, indistinct vision, severe migraine pains, irregular menstrual periods, and swelling of your face, lips, or tongue. Seek immediate medical help if any of these birth control side effects become troublesome or do not go away.
Note – When combined contraceptive pills like Yasmin 3 mg are taken appropriately, there is approximately a 1% chance of failure. However, the failure rate may increase if the pills are missed or taken incorrectly. The pills must be taken exactly in the order given in the package. Take Yasmin birth control pills every day, preferably at the same time with water or some liquid. One Yasmin pill, 3 mg, must be taken every day for 21 days. If this is not followed strictly, the chances of a user getting pregnant increase manifold; each combined contraceptive pill pack of Yasmin should be started after a seven-day interval. Consider taking a Yasmin combined pill with water after an evening meal or bedtime. This birth control pill can be taken without regard to meals. The treatment must start on the first day of the woman’s menstrual bleeding. Strictly follow the consumption of Yasmin as your doctor advises you to. You should not increase or decrease the quantity or take it longer than advised.
If the user is less than 12 hours late in taking the Yasmin contraception pill, the birth control effect will still be there, and then the woman should take the tablet as soon as possible, following the next dosing schedule.
If the woman is 12 hours late in taking any pill, the birth control effect is reduced. There are two basic things that a woman needs to consider when managing the missed tablet:
— Firstly, she should never discontinue taking the tablet for over a week.
— Secondly, one week of daily dosing is required to achieve sufficient suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis.
