Description
Cosart H 50/12.50 mg treats high blood pressure. It is also effective at lowering the risk of strokes in patients with high blood pressure and an enlarged heart. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent kidney problems, strokes, and heart attacks. This medicine contains active ingredients, namely losartan and hydrochlorothiazide. Losartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker that relaxes blood vessels to allow blood to flow more easily. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that makes more urine, making the kidneys more water and salt. This also helps to reduce blood pressure.
Dizziness or light-headedness may occur once your body adjusts to the medicine. If these effects last or get worse, inform your doctor immediately.
Other common side effects of Cosart H are:
— Muscle pain, leg pain, back pain
— Tiredness, weakness, and chest pain
— Increased potassium levels, decreased haemoglobin levels
— Changes in kidney function

— For high blood pressure: The recommended dose of Losartan/hydrochlorothiazide for most patients with high blood pressure is one tablet per day to control blood pressure over 24 hours. The dose may be increased to two tablets once daily. The maximum dose is two tablets per day.
— Try to take the dose daily as prescribed. However, do not take an extra dose if you miss a dose. Just continue with the regular dosing schedule. Please speak to your doctor if you have further questions about the medicine used.
— You are not advised to drink alcohol while taking these tablets. Alcohol and Losartan/hydrochlorothiazide may increase each other’s effects.
